Abysmal Global DH Reliability

I am thankful the previous GE DH was esailty replaced under warrantee with this one, made in Thailand. Lets hope it lasts longer then the previous one (Made in China) that lasted 10 months ( actually 4 months of use.) I do not understand the abysmal reliability record of portable dehumidifiers. (All brands) My experience is not unique. GE and other "manufacturers" need to force their DH suppliers to design and build a more reliable product. That said, I am very happy that GE stands behind their warrantee!

We are on our second ge 50 liter dehumidifier . The first one crapped out a month before the warranty ran and we didn™€™t use it in the winter The second hasn™€™t even worked six months and is giving an empty bucket code when it is completely emtpy and will only run for an hour. This product is awful and I would not recommend to anyone!!!! If I could give this a zero I would. I contacted Bodewell and I was instructed to produce a receipt and then I need to purchase a new unit and it had to be a GE product only in order for me to get my money back. I feel I could never be satisfied with a GE product of this kind. So sad

Gimmicky APP & frugal design

Overpriced, works. ***Wanted grey color*** only white is available. With plastic White turns yellow over time (type of cleaning will quickening effects) ___ overly gimmicky. For $350 MSRP it should have a better, stronger physical design. (I'm not APP, remote oriented, ***lacks security*** at best only use a guest network for such features = gimmicky design @ only good for unit information = model, serial number, manual) Major flaw ™€" most people ™€" overlooked is the float. It's made of porous styrofoam. ***Will collect germs and bacteria*** if not used in constant drain mode. Health issues if not preventatively maintained "emptying" (manual states not to remove ™€" known ™€" styrofoam. some reviewer removed... Breaking design) ____ it should be a hollow plastic float -or- atleast a solid nonporous foam) Apartment use, hope it lasts over 1 year with ***wanted drain pump*** (most reviewers state drain pump failure at 1 year = required manual drainage, others "hose" if placement allows "floor" drain) ____ id expect 3+ years minimum (not worth it if unit price isn't under $100 per year) Currently summer use (works = lowers "real feel" temp via Dehumidifier) Wanted winter use due to apartment design (dehumidifier is best for my issues)

I like that it does drop the humidity fairly quickly but it is extremely loud like a loud buzzing motor and keeps running even when the proper humidity is reached. It also has no timer. Pretty disappointed with the price I paid

It doesn™€™t run long enough to remove moisture from the room. I don™€™t think there is any Freon or gas in the evaporator coils. It doesn™€™t run in continuous mode. The most it has run is 40 minutes at any one time. Not happy with it. Going to try and sen it back . Hope I get to talk to someone about it first. Gave a single star because it is nice looking.

Wifi connection drops off frequently and the unit isn't far at all from our router. It also kep icing up and doesn't drain properly out of the hose, which requires frequent buke dumping. Would not recommend this unit!

Several design improvements. Air intake should be in front so that you can place against wall, mount on wall pedestal so tank can be pulled out without turning around. Controls should be top front 45 deg angle at corner. Tank should be easier to remove/install, rollers make it difficult. Better moisture sensor. 5 deg temp sensors is not very precise. it does create a high buzzing sound typical of condensers, but if you could find away to lower the pitch. Tank fills up fast so it is working good when sensor decides to work. Maybe that was to prevent machine to turn on/off often, but it does that anyway.

Quiet and smart dehumidifier

Works well and removes moisture. Wifi capability is nice and when used with the app, one can get notifications to empty the reservoir or clean filter. Seems quiet for a dehumidifier of that size, which is great. 50 pint capacity is sufficient for the area and when set at 45%, I can run the dehumidifier for at least 6 hours before having to check it. Has wheels and makes it easy to move around to different areas. Touch pad controls and easy to see lights so one can ensure the desired settings are selected.

[Employee of ge_appliances] Capacity has kept my basement clear of humidity and any musty smell. The drainage into the sump pump makes this product easy to use. The quiet operation of the product makes it inaudible to hear upstairs from the basement.

This is my 2nd Wi-Fi dehumidifier. I had to send the first one back because, despite escalated tech support the dehumidifier would not connect to Wi-Fi. I had to reorder and at the time asked that they confirm that they were not shipping my replacement dehumidifier from the same manufacturing lot. After repackaging the first dehumidifier and lugging the awkward huge and heavy box to FedEX and reinstalling its replacement, the new dehumidifier will not connect to Wi-Fi. I paid extra for a for peace-of-mind Wi-Fi connection that does not work.

Cautiously optimistic. It has been a couple of weeks since this arrived and it is working good so far. In full disclosure, this was a warranty replacement purchased with a voucher from the manufacturer. To explain even further, I purchased my first 50 pint GE dehumidifier about 4 years ago. It lasted about 7 months. I was given a voucher from GE and purchased another one with a pump. It lasted about the same. I was given a voucher from GE and purchased another one with Wi-Fi. It lasted 6 months. This is my fourth GE 50 pint dehumidifier I've owned from my one purchase and it is white instead of gray. Hopefully they have upgraded the quality. I have it hooked to a hose to empty into a drain and it is working well. The controls are set at 55% and it turns on and off as needed. I do like the wi-fi feature that I can check on and it works well with the Smart HQ app. Hopefully the quality has improved on this new one.

This is a warranty replacement. One great improvement is the placement of the "handles" for pulling out the bucket. Another-- for some-- is the capability to use WIFI to control it. It continues to be very quiet and efficient.

This dehumidifier has a couple things that sets it apart from the competition. It™€™s one of the most trusted brands in reliability in the U.S., General Electric. The smart connected app is everything you could want to monitor, and control from inside your house or across the country. I found it easy to download, connect and setup. The hose attachment is great for a more permanent installation and without requiring frequent trips to empty. Super easy to clean. Has filter reminder to help you remember those easy cleans. Also has this cool thing that senses the humidity and adjusts based on that. I think this has everything you could ask for. Time will tell how long it will last.

This has been awesome. My family and I were sick. We had the humidifiers on all night. I don't like using the humidifiers because of how humid they leave the room (yes I know that's their job, they work for when you're sick but I still don't like it). I'm worried about mold. This time around, I told my husband that whoever woke up first was going to turn the humidifier off and the dehumidifier on. Let me tell you, when I woke up the humidity level wasn't as high, I felt better and I didn't have to worry about mold. It's a nice size and it's not loud.

Best dehumidifier I've had, and it looks sharp! The sound isn't too loud, nice and low rumbling. The wheels glide well so I don't have to put it much effort to get it into place. And it dehumidifies very effectively. I used to have a Frigidaire in the bathroom due to lack of ventilation, and an older GE in the basement. I upgraded the bathroom dehumidifier to this one and I'm very happy with it. I don't need the wifi/app control function so I'm not upset, but I cannot get the device to connect in my app. If you're specifically looking for a device that you can control from your smartphone, I'm not sure this is the one for you. I wouldn't consider myself technically unsavvy, as a millennial.

The unit quickly started removing the humidity in the space as soon as it was turned on. The fact that it can accept a hose to continually remove water is convenient since it does such a great job!
