BEWARE: Inside of lid is cheap plastic

It was great until we hit the one year mark when the warranty expired. Part of the inside lid broke off before the one year date but I wasn't too concerned about it. Now it's at a point where it won't open all of the way and we have to use a heavy block on top of the lid to hold it down and trick the machine into thinking the lid is locked.

Washer delivered without a user manual or registration card. Expected a small sample of detergent and washer cleaner. Nothing. Without the user manual, the initial setup was disastrous. There are smudge marks on the exterior. Quality control or defective finish? Disappointed no bulk dispenser for softener (as on previous model). Disappointed no level indicator for detergent (as on previous model). This model is a step backwards.

Disappointed overall - residue on clothes

I wanted this washer for the large capacity, BUT truly struggling with this washer to not leave residue detergent/softener on my cloths, specifically black clothes. I have tried every cycle, extra rinses (I'm using much more water than I should), and often have to wash clothes twice. Also struggling with balancing overall, it runs out of balance frequently with the large loads. Disappointed overall. Ironically, I have this same washer in another location but the front loader and it works great. This top loader is awful.

Spent a lot of time researching washers and settled on this one. From the start, one of the "smart" features did not work -- The Smart Dispense sensor tells me the detergent reservoir is empty, even after I poured a whole bottle of detergent in. Repair guy was great -- he came out once, twice, three, four times. He did his best. Every time, we had to block off half a day for the service. After 4 attempts to fix it, they finally replaced the washer for us -- 5th time I had to take a morning off work. New washer was just delivered. Guess what -- SAME PROBLEM! And now GE is telling me they have to send a tech out AGAIN to look at the new unit. So that will be a 6th morning off work. Terrible "customer relations" -- they absolutely do not give a crap how disruptive this is and they have no shame for the fact that their $900 machine is a lemon twice over. Besides that, it is also very limited in the variability. A lot of the "features" are not available with certain settings. For example, you cannot "deep fill" on "normal" wash. Often gets unbalanced and leaves clothes in a drum full of water. Would not recommend. Would not buy again

Worst washing machine

Terrible do not purchase 5/9/2026

This review is for ALL top load GE washers without agitator and should not have even 1 star. This is by far the worst washing machine I have ever owned or operated in my entire life of doing laundry. It uses at least three times more water than necessary due to constant load imbalance issues, regardless of load size. The machine repeatedly fails to spin properly to extract water from the clothes, instead continuing to add more water in an attempt to rebalance the load. This cycle repeats over and over until the machine eventually defaults and stops, leaving the clothes soaking wet. As a result, the washer requires constant monitoring and manual redistribution of clothing during the drain and spin cycles. Even after manually correcting the balance and running multiple drain-and-spin cycles, the clothes still come out excessively heavy with moisture. This ongoing issue has also caused excessive wear and damage to my dryer belts and motors from having to dry overly saturated loads.

I purchased this washer last July. I™€™ve had a problem with the dispenser. A repairman came out and it was functioning properly. I contacted the company and they told me they would give me up to 250 dollars for a repair and I needed to find my own repair person. Then they told me they would give me a discount on a new washer. I have a new washer! The problem still has not been resolved. The dispenser stays full of water so you are not able to fill it with detergent or fabric softener.

If I could give it a 0 star I would! It never stays level, always off balance. It shakes and rocks back and forth and drum hits the sides of the unit. I™€™ve had it looked at several times and they tell me to either add more clothes or not put as many in. I™€™ve tried several different settings, spins, different clothing and it does is almost every single time. I have to stop it mid cycle and re-arrange the items and hope it spins the out!

So far this washer has been amazing. I cannot get over how large the tub is. You look in and it doesn™€™t look that big, but then you start adding clothes and keep adding and you still have plenty of room. I love the smart dispense, no more pre-measuring the detergent prior to each load, the only bad thing is it™€™s hard to determine when it™€™s actually full. I love all of the different wash features and on this one I can select a cycle and then make adjustments to that cycle. My previous washer if I selected one of the cycles, most of them I couldn™€™t make any small changes to them. I read a lot of reviews where people complained about the water fill level. I was curious so I watched the washer fill up just to see what everyone was talking about. I could see where someone would like more water but the amount of water is enough for it to be efficient at washing the clothes, but it does have a feature that allows you to add more water. I also read a lot and I mean a lot of reviews about the washer always being out of balance. I was almost hesitant to purchase it for that reason. In the time that I have had this washer I have not experienced any issues with balance. I also read a lot of reviews about the noise level. It is a little bit noisier than my old front load (before the spin cycle), but it is not a noticeable noise difference. Even with the bad reviews I decided to take a chance because it had all the features that I wanted, plus some extras and so far I have absolutely been pleased with this washer including the Wi-Fi feature. I will state we purchased the set directly from GE, it was a little cheaper through GE and we had the option of installation. We purchased our previous set through a big box store and I don™€™t think they take their time when unloading appliances and are rough with them, because even in boxes we still received them with dents in the side of them. By going through GE we finally have scratch and dent free appliances, which I think will add to its longevity.

I bought 5.0 front load washer in 2021 December. Recently door locked not opened. Looked for support from GE. They outsourced all support to Bodwell. It™€™s all ways better buy appliances from the company that sell also support. This third party companies just look for money. I believed overpaid for the support for GE washer. I ended up paying 50 percent of total cost. All GE customer care calls are directing to Bodwell. Which is frustrating.

No thrilled with these matching machines. Less than a year old and it leaks water when running on the towel cycle. Customer service hopefully will help solve this issue. Also dryer doesnt dry on towel setting. Half the time it appears to overheat and wont run at all.

Not even 8 months of owning this, it™€™s break down and the technician can™€™t fix it but won™€™t just say it™€™s unfixable so we keep having to wait for parts to come in just for it to not work still. 6+ weeks without a large washer. They™€™ve dryer is also terrible and leaves clothes wet often. Worst than the $200 dryer I had before.

This washer is huge inside, but the same size outside. It does a great job of getting clothes clean. I like it without the agitator. It self levels when it is off balance. It is a bit noisy, but I am ok with that.

Absolutely LOVE My new washing machine! It™€™s extremely efficient, quiet and I love the color. I also really appreciate the smart setting so you can just fill the container with detergent and it will dispense the appropriate amount based on the size load that you put in. At first it looks like it™€™s not enough water but if you watch the way it agitates and rolls the clothes through the water so that everything rinses through without being completely submerged which wastes water. It also has a very large capacity and is able to handle whole bedding set in one go. So I can wash the blankets and sheets all together with no problem. It also does an excellent job on the spin cycle so your items are almost dry already when you move them over to the dryer. The controls are easy to use and understand. All-around excellent machine! A++

This is a piece of crap . I wouldn't even give it one star , I had it 1 year and the lid completely broke off. Held together with hard plastic and tape , now GE is giving me the run around repairing or replacement . First they said it was the wrong serial number .......seriously it was a picture of the serial number straight from washing machine,,,,,,then it was need a receipt emailed the receipt now its I sent it to an "unmonitored email" same email they were communicated me with ,....... I will never buy another GE product..... have practically a new washer but taking my clothes to the laundry mat.

Missing auto-dispense for softener

Missing the auto-dispense for softener! We recently moved and had to buy a new washer/dryer since the new house did not have a gas hookup for our old (10+ years) dryer. Our old washer (GE Profile) had auto-dispense for both detergent and softener. This one only has detergent.

we have owned this machine for 3 months,the repairman has been here 3 times already and will be back for a 4th time. the machine hardly puts in enough water to cover the clothes. washer constantly goes out of balance,the springs were replaced and that did nothing.now it doesn"t spin at all now. the repair guy now has ordered a new computerboard and a new motor! will not be out for another 2 weeks.this machine is a piece of junk and do not reccommend it at all
